Book of Eibon

The Book of Eibon was a grimoire that originated from the ancient land of Hyperborea, and was speculated to be written by a Hyperborean man named Eibon.

Overview[]

The Book of Eibon was created by a Hyperborean priest who also went by the name of Eibon after the grimoire's namesake. According to Abraham Sapien, Eibon supposedly wrote the contents in the grimoire based on the knowledge the Hyperboreans inherited from the Book of Raziel which is book containing the secrets of creation and its history that was briefly given to Adam and Eve by Raziel after their banishment from the Garden of Eden.

Description[]

The grimoire is a important resource that about the Ogdru Hem, similar to the Necronomicon, Unaussprechlichen Kulten, De Vermis Mysteriis and the Pnakotic Manuscripts. The book is handed down among esoteric cults and is said to be a key text in what is called the Tsathogguan Cycle.

Among other topics, the book includes:

  • A spell for the emanation of Yoth that requires a child's blood.
  • A method of giving people the Green Decay.
  • The third part is entitled "Papyrus of the Dark Wisdom," and consists of a treatise of considerable length on theogony. It discusses "the hidden origins of the Earth, the creation of the first of the Old Ones, the cause of their rebellion against the Elder Gods, the war between the two groups of divinities, the flight into this dimension of space /time by the Old Ones, and so on--a capsule history of the Elder World."
