“ | And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy. And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority. And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? Who is able to make war with him? | „ |
~ Revelation 13:1 - 10 |
The Beast of the Sea, also simply known as the Beast, is symbolized as an apocalyptic monster that will appear when Satan summons it from the depths of the sea, and empowering it with political power and authority. Its origins are unknown, but according to legend the Beast was a creature in the Garden of Eden that refused to be named by Adam.
Description[]
It is depicted as having seven heads, ten horns and crowns, and one of which shall be mortally wounded via trickery. The creature is described as having the appearance of a leopard, with feet like the feet of a bear, and had a mouth like a lion. One of the injured heads shall heal its wounds and be worshiped as a god among people, performing many miracles and leading many astray in a similar manner to the Antichrist himself.
The seven heads of the beast represent both seven mountains and seven kings, and the ten horns are ten kings who have not yet received kingdoms. Of the seven kings we are told that "five have fallen, one is, the other has not yet come." We are also told that the beast itself is an eighth king who is "of the seven", and is going to perdition. We are also told that this beast "was, and is not; and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition".
History[]
Genesis[]
During the Primordial ages, the Beast was a creature that resided in the Garden of Eden. When God told Adam to name every creature in the Garden, the Beast was among the creatures who refused to be named. As a result of being unnamed the Beast became a shapeless entity and because of its defiance the Beast was cast into Limbo with the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil soon following after Adam and Eve's fall. The Beast slumbered beneath the roots of the tree and gained nigh-omnipotent power through the tree by possessing and corrupting entire civilizations all the way until the modern ages.
Revelations[]
At the height of evil's power during the Apocalypse the damned will be forced into receiving the Beast's number etched onto their hands or foreheads in order to purchase food or contribute to society; traditionally this number has been noted as 666, which is the number of the Devil. The Beast will exercise its authority for forty-two months as it traverses across the globe and blaspheming God and His kingdom. After that a second Beast will rise out of the earth and this Beast will exercise all the authority of the first Beast on its behalf, thereby spreading lies and deceit for the wish of the first Beast.
The first and second Beast gather the kings of the earth and their armies to prepare for war against "He who sits on a white horse". The battle results in the beast being seized, along with the false prophet, where they are thrown alive into "the lake of fire". Those against the "King of Kings, and Lord of Lords" are killed and left for the fowls. In the lake of fire, the beast and the false prophet are tormented day and night for all eternity. The dragon joins them a little more than a millennium later after the great war, raising the armies of Gog and Magog only to be later defeated himself.
Personality[]
According to Immanuel, the Beast is emotionless and has no free conscious thoughts of its own, instead following its basic instincts of subduing and taking many lives. Being a primordial creature, the Beast is supposedly incapable of speech and first appears feral and mindless, given that it was given no name and thus no purpose in its existence. However, the Beast has shown some form of intelligence as it can somewhat identify between friend and foe, or at least what constitutes as a "friend" in its perspective. As it grows from the amount of sin it absorbs it begins to develop characteristics of its own albeit tampered down and still unable to properly express itself.
It is clearly sentient and can think, but it acts erratically, without focus lashing out at what it hates and rushing at what it wants. In this case, it is the sons and daughters of Adam for even after untold eons, the Beast clearly holds an enormous hatred towards Adam, rebelling against the father of humanity by refusing to be named and be subservient to him. It also attacks anything that manages to harm it such as when the forces of the Dark Knight Initiative managed to land several devastating blows against it turning its attention towards them. When the Shepherd became its host, it first overwhelmed and nearly shattered his mind to gain control, but later allowed Lucifer to have it reach its final stage and sprout the Tree of Knowledge from its body as it senses Lucifer's intentions and plans for creation.
Powers and Abilities[]
On its own, the Beast is terrifyingly powerful in its own right, with its very presence rendering any human to be filled sorrow and despair. Its power as such, when it rises from the sea, will be felt all across the world and tempt those whom have fallen deep into sin to worship and idolize it.
A primordial creature of unbridled apocalyptic power, it has the power to swallow oceans, split the land, and carry mountains. The Beast's roar can stir a series of massive natural disasters spanning the continent. It has shown to be immune to all manner of conventional human harm to the point where it does not seem to register the humans attacking it, and even going so far as somewhat ignoring powerful attacks from some of the forces of the Dark Knight Initiative. It is, however, susceptible to holy weaponry but that does little more than to enrage it.
The Beast also has the ability to manipulate and alter its own body to some extent, allowing it to regrow lost limbs, purge burning flesh from its main body, and form additional hands to grab enemies navigating on its surface. To defend itself, it can spawn demonic fission beings of many shapes and sizes, ranging from humanoid to animal-like in appearance, some of which wield weapon-like appendages on their arms.
The Beast is said to be connected to the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil, for when it was cast out of Eden along with the tree in Limbo, it fell within the roots of the tree where it remained dormant for eons. However, the Beast's dormancy within the tree allowed it to become one with the tree, as such, it is regarded as the "seedling" of the Tree of Knowledge with Immanuel stating that its appearance is a physical manifestation of the fundamental concepts of good and evil. When it reaches its final stages, its body will implode and make the Tree of Knowledge sprout in its place once it has collected enough power from the world.
