The Demonic Paradise Wiki

Arya Jayanegara, or simply Arya, is an agent of B.P.R.D. and the current avatar of Barong. Initially he was unaware of his powers, they would come to manifest when he is faced with the dark forces of Rangda and be part of the eternal conflict between the spirits.

Overview[]

Arya was originally a simple college student oblivious to his lineage which consists of him carrying the long fabled Argathan gene. His latent genes would stem from his ancestors that dwelt within the kingdom of Majapahit, an empire with little historical evidence surrounding it though was believed to have been apart of the legendary kingdom of Agartha that was situated in Southeast Asia. The only memento that carries the legacy of his ancestry is a talisman bearing the face of Barong.

It was not until the effects of Apocalypse would weaken the barriers that kept unnatural forces both good and bad at bay that he was exposed to the true nature of the world that lay behind the curtain. Among these forces were the demons of Rangda that would start to terrorize the cities of Southeast Asia. The emergence of Rangda's demons also seemingly activated the talisman which when in the presence of Ranga's ilk turns Arya into an avatar of Barong. As the spirit's avatar, Barong uses Arya to dispel the demons with Arya often having no say in the matter either as Barong could care less of his human activities and sees it as his duty to prevent the world from falling into chaos.

Currently, Arya is in Africa training to hone his swordsmanship in order to prepare against his inevitable battle against Rangda's avatar.

Appearance[]

Arya is a man of average height with disheveled black hair and blue eyes that turned pure red whenever he uses his powers. After joining the B. P. R. D., he trades his casual clothing for a specialized white uniform jacket with sleeves that stop at his forearms. He wears blue colored jeans and black sneakers and now carries a sword case on his back.

His appearance as a werepanther differs from the rest and more closely resembling a demon. His body is now colored red and white and have sharp claws along with standing at 6'7 feet tall. His head is encased in a tribal mask that animates whenever he speaks.

Personality[]

Originally, Arya was a was a very timid and lonely young man, unable to connect with other people and has lost all confidence in himself. Even so, Arya genuinely cared about other people and decided to isolate himself from them even if it means remaining alone. He was polite, respectful, and very caring for the people he was around and who he considered his friends.

Against the demons of Rangda, Arya showed the darkest side of himself. The demons killed his friends, and the young man was more than willing to kill the demons brutally for it. Arya's rage allowed him to even command Barong's power at will. He was willing to sacrifice his life to use Barong to kill Rangda in order to avenge his his loved ones. His continued possession by Barong as well as the continuous slaughter of the demons and failure to save certain lives made him appear as if he was lost in his darkness. He carried a deathly serious and cold persona who was straight to the point.

Without the false guise of a cold killer, Arya is still a naturally friendly person who has developed a lot as a person. He's much more social and is less timid than he used to be. When Manning visited him in Africa, the outspoken director was surprised his agent was even telling jokes.

Powers and Abilities[]

Arya solidifies his status as one of the Bureau's trump cards against darkness by virtue of his dual status as a descendant of Agarthan and the current Avatar of Barong. He can even impress the likes of Vergil with his sword play which on level with that of the Salvatore Brothers. His complete mastery of Barong's light, however, is his most powerful tool. As It will instantly burn opponents to the ground whether he wields it alongside his sword or throws it at them.

However, Arya possesses the power to transform himself into a demon with even greater control over light than himself—a panther Demon—by activating the talisman of Barong. This form can match his enduring adversary Rangda in strength while being absolutely devastating to lesser foes. March of the Spirits is his ultimate attack. Where he called forth monsters under Barong's command to devour the target.
