We're all afraid, Richter. Even soldiers of war like Lawrence is afraid. I was for the longest time. Always running away from the horrors of the world rather than staying to fix it. If I stayed, I'd gain something only to lose it...but not anymore. I want to stay. I may be still afraid but I'll be damned if I lose what I have now. I'll fight to keep what I have. I'll fight with you.
~ Annette

Annette is a young woman who was later revealed to be a witch that managed to escape the persecutions of the Salem Witch Trials when she was a little girl. She would end up in France years later where she allied with Richter Belmont and his compatriots.

Appearance[]

Annette is a beautiful Caucasian woman. She has blonde hair held in an updo bun with long bangs, green eyes, and also wears a green dress with frills and a green bustier that reveals slightly more of her shoulders, with white silk near the front bottom portion of the dress, as well as a necklace with a cross on it.

History[]

Background[]

Annette was born in Salem, Massachusetts and was revealed to be a descendant of a long-line of witches. However, unlike what the God-fearing populace of Salem perceive as witches, Annette's family merely dabbled in medicinal magic yet this did not quell the town's anxiety. It only imploded into a brutal persecution due to the townsfolk being manipulated by Drolta Tzuentes, one of Erzsebet Báthory's loyal followers.

When she was only nine, Annette's mother was able to save her daughter from witch hunters with Annette claiming to Richter that she managed to survive off of rations in the streets before leaving America to England in one of the merchant ships. Her activities then were unknown though it is likely she spent her years aiding the poor and starved with her powers.

French Revolution[]

Several years at the height of the Atlantic Revolutions, Annette found herself in France when one of the American merchant ships was seized by the French. And under more unfortunate circumstances, Annette landed in one of the bloodiest movements in France's history, the infamous French Revolution. Annette hid away from the untold massacres that occurred in France's streets but was saved from a group of men by revolutionary Théroigne de Méricourt who provided her shelter.

It was not until she ran into not just a pack of demons gathering the corpses littered about in France's streets during the dark of the night but also Richter Belmont himself who saved her from the Night Creatures with Lawrence Reid in tow. When Lawrence was attacked by Drolta who was supervising the demons and discovering that Lawrence was investigating his brother's death at the hands of an unhinged vampiric Marie Antoinette she was repelled by Richter and Annette who used her magic to harm the powerful vampiress.

Luckily, the two managed to bring Lawrence to a back-alley infirmary run by Iris, Lawrence and Tera's daughter and from there Annette allied with Richter and his newly formed band of companions like Maria Renard to uncover the conspiracy behind these calamities occurring around the Atlantic which ties them to a single vampire that was responsible for the tragedies surrounding their backgrounds; Erzsebet Báthory.

Personality[]

Complimenting her demeanor, Annette is a kind and caring individual, always wanting to look out for the well-being of others. Due to the traumatic events of the Salem Witch Trials, Annette is sometimes prone to bouts of anxiety especially when witnessing the horrors that unfold in the very streets of France during its bloody revolution, comparing it to when she witnessed many men and women put to the stake when accused of sorcery. This also led to her being insecure about her talents as a witch.

Although timid, Annette can display remarkable bravery and even defiance when facing against powerful vampires and demons. Her time with Richter, Tera, and Iris helped Annette gain more confidence in herself and be proud of her heritage. This was shown when she used dark magic from Drolta's grimoire to learn of Erzsebet's true goals even knowing what it would do to her psychologically but was willing to take the risks if it meant giving her friends a fighting chance against the Blood Countess.

She is also sympathetic towards people, most notably when Marie Antoinette was suffering rather than reveling in her existence as a vampire and when Richter shared his own trauma of witnessing his mother's death by Orlox's hands. Annette can also be a nurturing figure as seen in her interactions with Maria Renard whom she is very protective over and developed a close bond with Iris Reid. She has a calming presence as she could quell Richter's rage of unleashing a terrible vengeance against Orlox while also reprimanding him for his reckless behavior.
