He is a Great Marquis of Hell with thirty legions of demons under his command whose only directive is to hunt and kill men.
An Demon who served for centuries as first a paladin and then a blackguard before giving up on both sides in disgust.
A Binder hosting Andras sprouts two small, vestigial owl's wings from their back, and if they succumb to his influence, they become so emotionally listless that they'll get bored and wander off from a fight if it lasts longer than 10 rounds.
He is depicted as a humanoid with an angel's wings and an owl's head, riding a strong black wolf and holding a gleaming bright sharp sword.
Only a strong enough summoner is able to call Andras, who manifests as a near-naked elf with an owl's head riding a giant wolf and carrying a greatsword.
Among the spirits of the Ars Goetia, Andras is one of the most violent and dangerous to summon. The conjurer and any attendants he may have must stay within a magic circle at all times no matter how much Andras tempts them to leave it, or he will surely kill them.
If so asked, Andras will gladly kill any person the conjurer desires, and in certain demonology it is suggested that Flauros is his servant.
Power and Abilities
Andras was responsible for sowing discord and for this reason was allegedly summoned quite often by military leaders, to use his abilities to incite wars that last for decades, redefining peoples and continents.
Andras was also believed in being very skilled in using people's own anger against them, being able of infecting humans with uncontrollable dooming rage. He is able to control a person's anger or inflict rage upon any person the conjurer desires and tempt people to kill their servants or masters. He teaches people how to kill their enemies.
It is also declared that Andras was the one who played on high with the storms, the warrior-god whose smile is the lighting, who, in order to give freshness to the meadows, hurls down the waters which crush the ripening wheat, and seems, to the agriculturist, a cruel magician.
He creates discord and kills those who are not careful and wary, including the master, servants, and all assistants of any household. In addition, due to the subtle nature of his work, Andras was supposedly extremely difficult to detect.
He grants his summoner proficiency with any type of blade, the ability to summon a heavy warhorse, added skill in riding, the ability to Smite Good and Evil, a free Improved Critical bonus, and the ability to force opponents to attack their allies.
The demon Andras was possessing a girl in East Africa in 1890. A priest named Ota Benga was called in to perform an exorcism, but he decided that the demon should not return to Hell either. Instead he imprisoned the creature in his own body.
Andras remained a demon within the body of Benga for over a century, until he was visited by B.P.R.D.-Agent Ashley Strode. Strode was contacted by Sybacco, one Andras servants who wanted to release his master in order to rise the hierarchy of Hell. This demon hold the soul of a young boy hostage, threatening to take child's soul to Hell if his demands were not met.
Benga and Strode made a plan on how to kill the marquis.
Benga and Strode traveled to the Spiritual Plane, where the battled with Andras and drove him out the Benga's old body. Andras possessed a goat which was then killed by Strode forcing him back to Hell.
Myth and Legends
Original text from the Ars Goetia
“The sixty-third spirit is Andras. He is a great Marquis, appearing in the form of an angel with a head like a black night raven, riding upon a strong black wolf, and having a sharp and bright sword flourished aloft in his hand. His office is to sow discords. If the exorcist have not a care, he will slay both him and his fellows. He governeth 30 legions of spirits, and this is his seal, etc.”
From the Luciferian Goetia by Michael Ford
“Andras is a spirit and guide of the dead, and of Infernal Initiation. He teaches the assumption of bestial forms, of lycanthropy and astral transformation. He also sows discords and destroys enemies of the sorcerer. He is a spirit of death, and will slay many by natural means.”
From the Daemonolatry Goetia by S. Connolly
“To help conceal the truth from others. Invoke Andras to resolve ongoing situations between people (usually by bringing them to a confrontation). While confrontation may not be desired, it will prove a quick resolution. You may invoke Andras with any demon of strength or influence to give you an edge.”
From Pseudomonarchia Daemonum (Liber officiorum spirituum) by Johann Weyer
“(53) Andras is a great Marquis , and is seen in an angelic form, with the head of the blacke night raven, riding a strong black wolf, with a sharpe sword in his hand . He can kill the servant, and all assistants, he is author of discords . He rules 30 legions.”
- Andras was also one of the Demons that was summoned and written about by Aleister Crowley in the 777 And Other Qabalistic Writings of Aleister Crowley.
- Magicians traditionally had at least one assistant, usually more than one, to help them in their rituals. They stood inside a magic circle for protection, if the evoked Demon was able tempt or deceive the magician or his assistants to step out from the circle, the Demon could then injure the careless human beings.
