Mutated forms of Garou
Alterbeasts, also known as Mockery Beasts, are mutated werebeasts from the results of experimentation by Gentex.
Description[]
Alterbeasts are one of the two main factors of eugenics which is to bioengineer artificially enhanced creatures loyal to Gentex and would walk among the Earth alongside Numens. Alterbeasts are main subjects of the Lycaon Project, where scientists decipher and 'correct' the shapeshifter gene. They do this by injecting a viral agent derived from the RNA and the reverse transcriptase enzyme of the Progenitor strain, mutating the Werebeast's genes and cells to create a lifeform that can stand alongside the "final purpose of man".
The Alterbeasts have undergone several stages of experimentation with very few having moderate success. For one thing, the genetic strands of a Werebeast would often reject the viral genome of the Progenitors strains which leads to gruesome mutations that result in death. This led to Gentex's researchers developing a strain that can properly attach and assimilate the cells without any rejections. Despite achieving this with the R-Virus, the problem remained in the werebeasts unable to assume their human form coupled with the fact that they still retained their severe allergies to silver made it all the more taxing.
Eventually, the Lycaon Project diverged into separate sub-divisions that all focused on the experimentation of Werebeasts. One sub-division in particular works on the Metamorphosis Project which involves the hybridization of various werebeasts to create the ultimate apex predator. They perform this by attempting to glue DNA that has nucleotides similar to another werebeast's.
Known Alterbeasts[]
- Garou: Mutated werewolves and the first to be designed. While lupine in appearance they are clearly distinguishable from natural werewolves such as having various bone-like protrusions around their bodies, reddish white eyes and even looking as though they have mange.
- Translupine: A subcategory of lycanthropic humanoids bound with para-particles to their molecular structure in order to phase in and out of reality.
- Anurana: A failed attempt at creating amphibious humanoid mutates infused with the genetics of salamanders or toads.
- Terminid: Insectoid creatures created from a variant of the Plaga which are parasitic organisms that mutated insects. Thought to have been wiped out by the Ananasi, it was extracted from a Terminid carrying a Plaga encased in amber.
- Metis: Also known as Hybrids, are unique lifeforms that carry biological traits and capabilities from two or more werekin. Due to the unique genetic structure of various werebeasts, the project was nearly shut down until only one was able to be conceived in succession. A Metis dubbed "Laura."
