Abezethibou, also known as Abezethibod, or Abezi-Thibod , is a one winged fallen angel/cambion who followed Beelzebub upon his fall from Heaven, and later became an important demon in the hierarchy of Hell under the leadership of the Seven Princes of Hell, even coming to have his own throne within the Stygian Council. He is also said to be the son of Beelzebub and Naamah.
Biography[]
Background[]
According to legend, Abezethibou is Beelzebub and Naamah's son, who was born when the Lord of the Flies consorted with the Succubus. Abezethibou grew rapidly and followed his father during the War in Heaven. However, after his treason against Heaven was revealed and he was defeated in combat, Abezethibou was left with only one red wing and banished from the heavenly realm.
Exodus[]
Some accounts claim he later traveled to the land of Ancient Egypt, where he corrupted the mind of Dumah, the angelic defender of Egypt, and hardened the heart of Pharaoh and his advisors, convincing them to pursue the fleeing Israelite slaves instead of letting them free. In doing so, he came into conflict with Azrael, the Angel of Death who had slain all the firstborn in Egypt when Dumah refused. After a prolonged battle, Azrael managed to drown Abezethibou along with the Egyptian army within the Red Sea, and trapped him beneath a "pillar of water", though Beelzebub claims he will one day return for his revenge.
Solomon and the One-Winged Angel[]
When King Solomon summoned Beelzebub for an interview, the prince of the demons revealed that an angel named Abezethibou had accompanied him when he fell from Heaven, a frightening one winged demon. He claimed that all those imprisoned in Tartarus fall under Abezethibou's command, and that this charge comprised Abezethibou's primary role and burden in the demon world, his eternal role as the son of Beelzebub.
Later, Abezethibou himself appeared before Solomon, informing the king that, as an angel, Abezethibou had sat in Amelouth, a place he described as the first Heaven. After his fall, Abezethibou roamed Egypt, and, after the appeal of Moses to let the Israelites leave Egypt, cause Pharaoh's heart to harden. He went with the Egyptian army in the pursuit of the Israelites, and the collapsing Red Sea crushed and drowned him, where he was imprisoned by a pillar of water. Abezethibou remained trapped and alone beneath that pillar until the demon Ephippas arrived to free the demon from his imprisonment and take him to King Solomon. Solomon instead used the opportunity to bind both Abezethibou and Ephippas to the "pillar" and cursed them to keep holding it up in the air until the completion of his temple.
Aiding the Egyptian Mystics[]
Jannes and Jambres also once called upon Abezethibou when they battled against Moses, and the demon provided them with the magic they used against him. He claimed to be "the adversary of Moses in [performing] signs and wonders." Beelzebub claims that "when he [Abezethibou] is ready, then he will come in triumph."
