I'm in the process of planning a timeline of events for the Demonic Paradise but to help you out I'll try and give you the basics.

It follows the basic story of Genesis and elements of other creation myths. God and His wife Asherah help create the universe, They fight Azathoth and the Ogdru Jahad before imprisoning them with the archangels. The Primordials are created to stabilize the aspects of the universe whilst the archangels hunt down and destroy the Ogdru Hem who were creations of the Ogdru Jahad and dealing with other unwelcoming anomalies like the Upside-Down Man. Knowing that the Earth could be in danger if the Ogdru Hem find it, Asherah has the Primordials produce the second generation of deities like the Titans and what not who go to Earth and protect it from the Ogdru Hem. They start to think that hey since we're doing a better job than the Big Man Upstairs and his pigeon kids, we should be the rulers of the Earth and its inhabitants. They soon have kids on their own who turn on them and take rulership over the Earth, only to deal with the problem their parents were supposed to deal with; the Ogdru Hem. The Old Gods fight and win against the Ogdru Hem, and while their resting after they imprison the Evils that spawned from their war inside Pandora's Box, it gives the opportunity of alien races, i.e. the Elder Things, to play around with Earth's life forms which leads to the creation of the Primal Apes.

What follows is trouble in Paradise. God creates humanity, Satan and several angels don't like that. Lucifer doesn't want to be under his Father's control and a war breaks out in Heaven but they lose. The war also damaged one of the Sentinels of Creatio, that being the Scarlet King, who goes on a rampage and wants to destroy the Tree of Life because the war opened his eyes to the tumultuous noises of light and creation. The Scarlet King kills most of his siblings, the archangel Michael and the six other archangels defeat and imprison him, but his tampering with the Tree of Life's roots created a big misalignment and this results in physics and time/space going haywire leading to the Convergence.

The pagan gods also create their own humans, and they live alongside Adam and Eve on Lemuria. Then there's the Fall of Man, Cain kills Abel with Satan's influence. Sin and Evil corrupts the land outside of Hyperborea which is the Golden Kingdom of Man as it is protected by the Secret Fire of God that they managed to keep if only a small amount thanks in part to the angel Anum. Things go wrong, Hyperborea sinks to the ground, and they split apart, regressing into primitive savages. Prometheus pities them and he gives them fire that was kept by Zeus so he could control humanity better.

God wants to make sure that humanity is kept in check after Prometheus gave them back the knowledge of fire so He assigns the Watchers to observe them closely. But again, things go wrong, when Naamah one of Eve's sisters and Adam's former wives, seduces the Watchers into mating with human women and with the corrupt knowledge given by some of the Watchers and the tyranny of the Nephilim, the Earth is engulfed in Evil and Sin. God sends a Flood to wipe out all the Evil and Sin of the world except Noah and his family. When the Flood waters recede, humanity starts anew. Humanity is united again under the rule of Nimrod, the first ruler of mankind after the Flood Age and is trying to bring back the Golden Kingdom of Hyperborea but under less pleasant circumstances like the Tower of Babel. When the Tower of Babel is destroyed, the united humanity spreads out throughout the Earth, and they start to make their own languages and cities like the Mesopotamian Empire, the Ancient Egyptian Empire, Mycenaean Greece and so forth.

That's basically how everything starts in-universe and where the rest of the events pick off like the Werebeasts, the Deathless War, the Gigantomachy, Sparda's rebellion, and so on. If you have any more questions on the timeline of events feel free to ask.

Not really like the GOC but DARKCOM would've been more like Cadmus from Justice League Unlimited and Vice President Baines would've been Devil May Cry's equivalent to Amanda Waller.

Like Cadmus, DARKCOM realizes how hopelessly outgunned humanity is compared to the firepower the demons wield because there are demons powerful enough to threaten the world as a whole. DARKCOM would've been experimenting on demons as well as hoarding materials like Devil Arms to create weapons that are capable of killing the demons and give humanity a fighting chance.

Baines is too much of a fundamentalist to even trust Dante because he believes demon blood coursing through one's veins would turn the individual into an infernal monster. He doesn't see Dante as the exception either regardless of his noble intentions because he's worried that what if he loses control of his demonic half and goes on a rampage which makes it especially worse considering that he's a son of Sparda. Dante could change his mind...until Vergil comes in and botches it all up. When it comes to Sparda I would say Baines believes that Sparda is a devil who simply separated his world from theirs for the sole purpose of ruling over it himself. Like in his mind, Sparda's feats and tales of his accomplishments would entice the masses so much it could even possibly overshadow Christianity itself and the populace started worshipping a demon much like the Order of the Sword did.

In addition, Lady would've been a solo demon hunter instead of a DARKCOM agent. Like she's on her own personal mission to find something that leads to what her father was doing and working for DARKCOM will only distract her even if Baines gives her the tools needed to make it easy for her. She will work with them not FOR them and she ends up being hired by DARKCOM alongside the mercenaries to take Dante out unaware that it's part of a set up by the White Rabbit who used DARKCOM to reveal Dante's location and the amulet.

The White Rabbit was a good villain I won't deny that but he falls off only due to the plot line of demons being an oppressed race.

The White Rabbit could have been working for Arkham like SkyJolt said and the reason why is because Arkham promised him that by attaining the items needed to open a portal to the demon world to gain Sparda's power, he would help the White Rabbit in destroying human civilization. The White Rabbit have similar motivations only difference is that he is mainly seeking the destruction of humanity and succumbed to the demons' temptation with promises of giving him power to strike back at a world that did nothing but bring him so much misery and the whole "oppressed immigrant demon" crap is nonexistent. It's just a man completely broken and his soul has been hijacked by evil to use for its own gain.

However, the White Rabbit betrays Arkham and would instead use the power of Sparda for his own gain like what Ronan did with Thanos in the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie. The White Rabbit would unleash the true form of the Sparda sword but he can't fully open the portal to the Demon World even if the sword is pumping him up because he doesn't know that Lady's blood is the final key since she's a descendant of the priestess that Sparda used to seal away the Temen-ni-gru. He wouldn't know because Arkham didn't tell him about it since Arkham knew that at some point he was bound to betray him. Dante and Lady fight and defeat the White Rabbit but not without the latter telling Lady that her dear old daddy is the mastermind behind this which shocks Lady since she thought her dad was dead.

After the battle, Dante asks Lady if she needs his help but she declines since this is her father and thus her mess but Dante insists since her dad pulled Dante's own family into the mess as well. So she reluctantly accepts. Meanwhile, Arkham is disappointed by the White Rabbit's course but he at least is looking forward to his daughter now coming to find him. He decides to find another means of assistance...enter Vergil.

After watching the series I don't even know how there's a season 2 already. The first season isn't a faithful adaptation of the games which I'm not surprised by since this is Netflix we're talking about. This is just another IP that's bastardized by Adi Shankar who thinks swearing makes you cool, America is evil, Christianity is bad, and demons are misunderstood immigrants. Seriously what the hell does the War on Terror have anything to do with Devil May Cry? Nothing. None of those have anything to do with the games and don't belong in them. It's about a wacky wahoo pizza man who is trying to find his place in the world while protecting said world from demons and exploring the themes of humanity and the soul. The demons themselves suddenly were not from Hell or the Demon World, but from Makai, which is a parallel dimension, have common ancestry with humanity, and the medallion is some tech-babble quantum separator that keeps the dimensions apart instead of, you know, magic.

I don't expect season 2 to be any better because if they just adapted to the source material than the points I would've made would work. But here's what needs to happen. Make Dante overpowered because he was just so inconsistent in the Netflix series. One minute he's casually dodging bullets the next he's struggling against Lady. Even when he was young like he was in Devil May Cry 3 he was unstoppable against Lady and he doesn't even flinch when he's shot in the head or in the stomach. Yet for some reason he gets taken out by tasers and anti-demon bullets. Plus he's not an idiot. There was no way he would've fell for Lady's tricks during their fight in the second episode.

Speaking of Lady, I'm very much sick and tired of the Mary Sue girl boss routine. It's unappealing and embarrassing. She isn't Batman with plot armor because even with that ridiculous outfit she has there was no way she would've survived the hits she took from high level demons. Make her struggle she isn't Captain America she's just a very skilled human. Another is to make her stop swearing every five minutes and give her a chill pill because she was just so insufferable whenever she appeared. She was even worse than Annette from Castlevania Nocturne. You could've made her a solo demon hunter who was searching for her father that survived the fire while killing demons on the way. And I don't know why her father didn't turn out to be the White Rabbit since he was very integral in Lady's development as a character. He could also have been working for Vergil from the shadows.

Speaking of Vergil, I am genuinely at a loss as to how he is willingly working for Mundus. You know the guy who murdered his mother in cold blood? He's either being mind controlled or worse manipulated by Mundus into thinking that Mundus is helping him seek revenge against those who killed his family. I dont know something along those lines. Which still doesn't make sense because Vergil isn't stupid so he could be playing the long game and pretending to serve Mundus until the appropriate moment. I don't know why they didn't just make it simple. Oh wait I know why because Shankar pretends to be a fan of the series and doesn't know the core themes of the games.

Another is to remove this ridiculous concept of the demons being misunderstood victims being oppressed by a tyrannical king. Seriously I'm sick to death of this trope. It's only been done once which was in the old Gargoyles show. Demons are universally and religiously known to attack, corrupt, and ruin human civilization. This completely takes away the whole point of why Sparda fought against his own kind in the first place. Demons are inherently evil through and through which is why the very idea of a demon killing his own kind for the sake of humanity is unthinkable. It's unheard of and super rare. And that's what makes Sparda so unique because he was the first to do so. If there are "good" demons then why didn't Sparda help them? He could've made these Makaians escape into the human world and maybe have them live on an island similar to what he did with Fortuna away from humanity.

For season 2 to work, everything I stated above should be taken into consideration. And it's not just me but everyone else who strongly criticized this series. If you like it, that's fine I won't hold it against you.

Angels and demons are not souls, they are spirits. Souls are the specific animating principle of a material body. Angels are composed of Aether, which is pure spiritual energy and is different from souls. Souls are meant to be unique in terms of what identifies as the very definition of 'being' which is exclusive to terrestrial creatures like humans and animals.

Demons that aren't fallen angels are composed of Argent that makes up their body which they can use to materialize as physical bodies when being summoned on Earth. They use it as their own version of souls that while similar is fundamentally different from human souls. But when that body is destroyed the Argent supercools into crystalized material that sometimes encases the residue of their spirits or it leaks out. On the other hand some demons were evil spirits of those who died in misery and said misery was nurtured in Hell during the human's torment.

Series

No, they aren't the same. Asherah created the Scarlet King originally to guard and protect the Tree of Life which is the pillar for all of creation. She maintains the stability of existence.

SCP-2747 is the complete opposite of that. She destroys a story where it manifested before moving on to the higher narrative, the story that contained the previous one. SCP-2547 is what Azathoth is to God. Azathoth devours the light of God so by thematics, SCP-2547 would destroy the creation of Asherah. She erases fictional works of any kind.

There isn't. It's likely based on Alan Moore's comic book series Promethea where Andras is summoned with Marchosias by the magician Benny Solomon to put a hit out on the title character.

It's more of a Gothic punk setting with various elements of cyberpunk given the technological advancements; that's its current era as those before it particularly the Old Ages were dark fantasy settings like Dark Souls, Berserk, and Bloodborne or just regular fantasy i.e. the Mythic Age as I call it, essentially Dungeons and Dragons.

Considering the amount of monsters that terrorize the world, humans corrupted by greed and pride, deranged cultists seeking to plunge the world into chaos, it's a decadent world. Not so much dystopian more like reminiscent of ours except much worse. Locked in a perpetual cycle of strife and conflict, whenever thwarted, invites newer challenges.

It's endured several ages of prosperity and darkness, going back and forth since humanity can't help themselves but be tempted by their vices and fixations for power and control. It also doesn't help that said vices are nurtured by malicious forces like vampires and demons who also infested mortal high society. Normal people try to live about their lives while those who are aware of the real world that being the world of gods and monsters are fighting tooth and nail to repel the darkness so these regular people can live their lives in peace or have some semblance of peace.

The Raccoon City incident happened in this universe. Leon and Jill also appear as major players in future stories that are inspired by some of the Resident Evil games but modified to fit the thematics of the Demonic Paradise universe. Dawn Mustang is a stand-in for Claire Redfield.
